[Sapporo] Since I have tried Baristart Coffee in Singapore for quite a number of times, I was most keen to try out this coffee stand when I travelled to Sapporo in Hokkaido.

Some background: Baristart Coffee has made a name for itself through a different approach to coffee, using Jersey milk exclusively sourced from Hokkaido.

This specialty milk adds a creamy, luxurious texture to their lattes, setting them apart from typical coffee offerings in the region.

To reach Baristart Coffee located, you can take a subway to Odori Station (Exit 2). The coffee stand is just a couple of minutes’ walk away.

While the Singapore outlet is a full-fledged café with food offerings, Baristart Coffee in Sapporo is more like a takeaway coffee stand.

Despite the small outfit, it is still a cosy, welcoming atmosphere.

The standout feature of their menu is undoubtedly the selection of lattes made from various types of specialty Hokkaido milk such as the rich “Sapporo Hokkaido Milk” and the luxurious “TCMK” Jersey Milk.

This emphasis on local dairy not only enhances the flavor profile of their drinks but also supports regional producers.

Do note that this cup is priced at 700 Yen for a regular size and 770 Yen for a large, pricier than the average coffee out there.

I had an Iced Latte with Sapporo Hokudai Milk, and you would find the robust coffee flavours softened by the creamy richness of locally sourced milk.

This particular milk added a velvety texture that elevated the drink beyond a typical iced latte, also imparting a subtle sweetness that complemented the espresso’s natural bitterness.

The menu also highlights options like the robust Americano and a customisable espresso that lets customers choose between a light and strong roast.

For those interested in non-coffee options, Baristart offers Homemade Lemonade (700 Yen), Blueberry Yogurt Shake (780 Yen), and Matcha Latte (650 Yen) that promises a single-origin matcha from Uji, Kyoto.

Japanese Dorayaki at Baristart Coffee

If you are wondering about the famed Choux Pastry, they are not available here.

Dessert offerings include traditional Japanese Dorayaki (300 Yen) filled with anko and cream, homemade cookies, and muffins, which I found pretty fluffy-soft and tasty.

Worth a visit if you are at this part of town.
